My first visit to Montreal did not start out well for photography as the remnants of hurricane Ophelia dumped heavy rain in the city. But after the storm had cleared, the sun came out to warm and light this beautiful city. Late one afternoon I took a brisk hike up Parc du Mont-Royal and took some pictures of this beautiful park.

View of downtown Montreal from Chalet du Mont-Royal. You get a great view of the city of Montreal and the surrounding islands and mountains. |

Inside of Chalet du Mont-Royal. Murals of Canadian history adorn the walls of this building. I love the glass doors, the light shining through them, and the colors of the wood and murals. I had originally thought of turning this into a BW image; however, the warmth of this place seemed to be lost as a BW image. |

Croix sur la Montagne - a landmark of Montreal since 1924 is perched at top of Parc du Mont-Royal. It is a 98-foot high steel cross which can be seen from miles away when it is lit at night. |

Stairs leading up to Parc du Mont-Royal. I love pictures of paths, trails, and stairs. Something about the road ahead ... leading you some place. I envisioned this image as BW when taking the picture and it took me several attempts at BW conversion before I got the image I felt when I took it. |
